Chloe was purchased by my mother as a 3 year old from her breeder, Charlotte Rigg. Chloe had already been sold but returned as unsuitable before we got her.
After she had a two year break, I took over Chloe as a 5 year old. She was the first horse that I clicker trained. I used the clicker through all of her groundwork, saddling, round penning, and ridden work. She is now a very reliable ridden horse.
In Summer 2005 I took Chloe to France to train with me. She handled the journey and trip excellently.
I have many photos of Chloe in training and at rest - click here to view.
Examples of behaviours trained so far:
| lie down |
retrieve |
| bow |
passage |
| kneel |
grab the bit |
| ears forward |
target |
| head down to ground for calm |
"ear", when she places her ear in my hand |
| head down for haltering and bridling (waist height) |
"cheek" when she touches her cheek to my hand |
| spanish walk |
back up at liberty |
| ground tie |
sidepass to me at liberty |
| shoulder in at liberty and under saddle |
sidepass away from me at liberty |
| pose |
sidepass to mounting block |
| pose at walk trot and canter (at liberty, no ropes at all) |
rear |
| lunge at liberty |
|
Some of these behaviours are "finished", some are still a "work in progress"! I also use clicker training for all Chloe's ridden work.
